Your question: Not happy about being overly intimate at my activity camp
"Dear Mookychick,
About 4 times a year I go to a camp and it's always really fun. But things there get really intimate. Before I started going to these, I thought I was a romantic person, but I had never experienced anything. Now I've realized I'm awkward and quite the opposite. I have kissed people there, but just pecks on the mouth, and I always get red-faced. I know that if I just make out with someone there, I'll get over it, and I might be more comfortable with a long-term boyfriend and not embarass myself in front of him. But it seems like I can't look someone in the eye or start anything intimate, I always look away or chicken out and feel embarassed. I really just want to get over my embarassment and awkwardness, because I truly believe there is nothing wrong with intimacy of any kind, I just can't seem to get my body to believe that. Any tips on how I can be more comfortable? It just seems so hard to relax.

In America, we have the fabled summer camp, where a band of rowdy
misfits gets together to make flags and birchbark canoes and sing
songs and have summer romances.
I'm guessing what you're talking about
are more like retreats — for a club or something where you're around
people more intensely than you are the rest of the time. In any case,
everyone's awkward when they have their first kiss, their first
hand-hold, their first key-party with swings and rubber sheets,
whatever.
If you think all you need is some experience making out with
a guy and it'll do you well, fine. Practice makes perfect. If the
timing seems right, kiss back.
Don't flop down in the grass and boink
him based on a brief, intense camp experience though. For all the
obvious reasons, plus pine needles in the butt and burrowing ticks.
