How to look good in latex
by Twisted Fashionista
To be a latex goddess (or god) you'll want to look smokin' hot AND be comortable in your carefully chosen latex clothing. Whether you're looking for theme, costume or regular friday night wear, let's find that perfect outfit.
What style of latex clothing are you going for?
Are you going for a certain theme or costume, or do you just want to wear some kick ass latex that fully expresses your style? Latex goes well with Gurololita, pony girl/boy fashion and countless other subsets of underground style... but you don't have to be extremist to get into the synthetic aesthetic.
Do you want a colour theme? Do you want sexy or sweet or industrial? Do you want something perfect for a regular friday night, or something you'll only wear on a few very special occasions? Thinking about these questions will help you put together the perfect outfit for you. Remember, the sexier and more comfortable you feel in your outfit, the sexier and happier you are going to look.
Spend some time browsing the internet so you can get an idea of the styles different brands have to offer. If you want something custom made, many sites have custom sections on their website so you can see previous work they have done.
Be ruthlessly honest - latex clothing is an unforgiving mistress
This rule applies to any clothes you buy, but latex is very unforgiving. Think about what parts of your body you like, and want to highlight, as well as thinking about any parts of your body you aren’t that keen on. For example, if you love your bust but you don’t like your arms, you want to look for a style with sleeves and a flattering low neckline. Accentuating your best assets is the recipe to pulling off any outfit. It's especially important with latex.
If you buy latex online, buy well in advance
If you are buying latex clothing online, you need to give yourself time to send it back for alterations. If the outfit is handmade then the company should offer you the chance to send the item back for alterations - especially for undergarments, as items like bras are not always going to fit like a glove first time.
Accessories can make or break a latex outfit
There’s no point in buying an amazing outfit and then pairing it with any accessories you have lying around. Use your accessories to complement the hot outfit you’ve bought. If your outfit is a busy design, use pared down accessories so as not to detract from the overall look. When going for a sexy uniform or costume, choose accessories that fit into that persona. Think carefully about jewellery, bags, and hair accessories. These things don’t have to be centre of attention, because that’s what your outfit is doing. They just have to complement it.
On the other hand, if you have an awesome accessory – whether it be a Bagpuss bag or a giant pair of leather wings – and you want to use this as the main attraction of your look, then why not try basing your outfit around that instead!
With latex, comfort comes first
Not always the first thing you think of when going for a fetish or latex look, but an essential part of looking sexy is being comfortable in what you’re wearing. If you’re comfortable in 8 inch stiletto heels, that's wonderful. If - like me - you prefer something a bit closer to the ground, think about what footwear will go with your outfit but also won’t cripple you. Look for hidden platforms in high heels, boots, wedge shoes and kitten heels.
Alternatively, enlist some burly men to carry you on a chaise longue, as should be the favoured mode of transport for all latex goddesses...
