Orissa makeup for dark skin

Bookmark and Share

Makeup for dark skin tones can leave ladies of colour looking a bit chalky or non colour-matched. Two of our intrepid contributors tried Orissa mineral cosmetics for light brown to black skin and were pretty happy with the results.

Orissa founding directors Bhimal Hira and Mona Parekh believe, quite rightly in our opinion, that "women with dark skin tones are not being adequately catered for by the mainstream beauty industry, leaving many ethnic women using make up products that does not suite their skin type".

What on earth is the point of using makeup if it doesn't actually make you look more beautiful? Girls with dark skin tones are sometimes left out by the beauty industry, but Orissa Cosmetics specialise in foundation for darker skin tones, eyeshadow for brown skin, makeup for indian and black women, blusher for dark complexions and bronzer for dark, black skin tones.

Two of our intrepid and beauteous contributors ventured forth to give Orissa cosmetics a real-life roadtest. Orissa talk the talk - but do they walk the walk?

Orissa makeup review for dark skin

Anjelica says:

Finding the right foundation ,especially for women of colour, is like to trying to find the perfect pair of jeans. It can takes years of patience and perseverance. With Orissa makeup, my salvation arrived.

Orissa Mocha Foundation blended well into my skin. I know that for a fact, because I didn't believe Orissa could find a dark skin tone foundation that was right for me so I went outside in natural lighting (we all know that fluorescent lies).

For my prom, I'd used Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation, and as pretty as the bottle and name was, it did nothing for my skin. I'm a dark mocha girl and I went to prom looking like my caramel mother. Orissa blended so well that my family thought my skin had cleared up.

As for the other products, Orissa Berry blush and Turquoise eyeshadow, they were bright enough to show up on my skin without looking like a clown. Other products appear on my skin, sure, but because dark skin absorbs colour they usually tend not to last very long. The Orissa make-up lasted so long I had to wash my face twice to make sure I'd taken it all off!

As soon as I find a job, I will buy my foundation from Orissa cosmetics. Never again will I have to look chalky or blend foundations to achieve my dark mocha tone.

But Orissa - Start advertising in America as soon as you can. Our women of colour NEED your products!!!!!!!!

Sharnea says:

I love mineral makeup, simply because it seems the shades are much richer, and that's what I found in Orissa cosmetics.

I received 3 small samples to roadtest consisting of a teal eye shadow, a dark mineral foundation, and a deep berry blush.

The eye shadow was most definitely my favourite, and I couldn't stop gawking at the contrast it gave to my honey skin. Although I'm fonder of a neutral palette, the richness of colour literally felt like eye candy.

The blush delivered as well, giving me a most enchanting tint to my cheeks (a little goes a long way, as the shade is VERY intense.)

The mineral foundation wasn't my shade, although in testing the shade on my sister (she has a very cinnamon complexion) I discovered it fit all too perfectly, as if she wore no makeup at all, which is ideal for her age.

I recommend these products highly, as I don't think I've had so much fun playing with makeup in a long while. I hope to buy more products in the future, for a delicious night out or a future stage performance....
