Create anti-bullfighting design for League Against Cruel Sports competition!
|
There's a new League Against Cruel Sports design competition. It's a brilliant charity, the League Against Cruel Sports, and this is a brilliant way of winning an award if you're an artist. So entering this competition a double-win.
The Spanish street artist SpY (who created the image on the right) is judging the League Against Cruel Sports' public design competition to create a poster illustrating their 'Love Spain, Hate Bullfighting' message. In order to help save bulls from needless cruelty in the name of sports, they need a eye-catching and creative image that people can easily identify with and support. This can be in the form of a painting, illustration, photograph, or graffiti (or any reproducible media).
Bullfighting is a cruel and unnecessary pastime in which the severely disadvantaged bull is tortured over a prolonged period before meeting almost certain death.
In recent independent polls we learned that 89% of the British public would never visit a bullfight and that 67% of Spaniards are not interested in bullfighting.
The League Against Cruel Sports wants to take that message to the tour operators, holiday companies and establishments that promote bullfighting to let them know that tourists in Britain and the Spanish locals want no part in this redundant tradition.
The winner will receive a weekend in London or Barcelona, exposure for their work, and the unending friendship of bulls. The competition is free to enter and open to contestants worldwide.
