Indie-rock loving misfit Bliss Cavendar is locked in a battle of wills with her mother who is bringing her up to become a beauty queen. Desperate to find her real place in the world and knowing that parading in pageants is not for her, Bliss discovers a local female rollerderby league – girls who career around a track on rollerskates, with outfits, pads and an urge to reshape the world in their own image. Bliss soon swaps the heels for wheels. Battling with rivals on the roller-rink is Bliss’s way of dealing with her small-town misery and domineering mother and she finds a family within her skating peers as well as love with a local rocker. But Bliss’s real battle is for acceptance. Will she find it?
