Make a recycled egg carton bulletin board

by Stella Rivet

A message board made from egg cartons is easy to make and looks charming rather than ridiculous. It's genuinely useful, and will proclaim your craftsy artistry for all to see...

The only downside to making this charming message board is that you'll need to get through a lot of eggs. Mookychick suggests a massive cake-bake (then sell the proceeds to charidee. Or store the cake in your freezer. For a day will come when you're starving. And it's winter. And the wolves are scraping at your door

Art supplies:

  • 3 Egg Cartons
  • Scissors or x-acto knife
  • Masking tape
  • ribbon, yarn or string
  • Hole Punch
  • Optional: Paint, glitter and other decorative items.

How to make the egg carton bulletin board:

Cut the lids off the egg cartons leaving the bumpy part of the container. On one leave the flap that you use to close the egg carton with but with the other two cut that piece off.

Using masking tape, secure each carton to each other, like shown in the picture. Make sure to leave the egg carton with the flap on the outside.

Punch two holes in the flap approximately 4" apart.

Tie a knot on one end of your ribbon, yarn or string big enough so it will not be pulled through the hole. Pull string though hole leaving the knot on the backside. Pull the end of the string through the second hole and tie a knot.

Find some tacks and picture and pin them to your new recycled bulletin board!

If you want to make your bulletin board fancy you can paint it, glitter it or decorate it any other way you desire.

Mission statement

Mookychick believes that climbing trees and riding giant turtles is more fun and girly than worrying about make-up. But if you want to worry about make-up instead of turtles? Fine by us. Be you feminist, kitten, punk, emo, indie, goth, witch, vegan, horror junky, intellectual, christian goth, corset queen, geek, unicorn, sea monkey... be you into alternative style, alternative health, spirituality, comics, manga, j-pop, harajuku or jock culture... we will always love you.
