How to make your own skinny jeans

by Hendrixsa

Apart from your health, your soul and your actual best friend, jeans are a mook's best friend. Now learn how to make gorgeous skinny jeans yourself by customising an old pair of generously boot-cut jeans or flares...

Being comfortable in your own skin is very vital. Shopping in charity shops is great for adding to your own style, but let's face it, you don't often get skinny jeans in charity shops because those who have got them want to keep them! Don't worry, you can get a flared pair of jeans at the charity shop - for a fraction of the price in a standard shop - and then turn them into covetable skinny jeans. Like this!

You will need

  • A pair if jeans with flares at the end
  • Pins
  • Sewing Machine ( if you don't have a sewing machine you can hand sew)
  • Thread that matches the colour of the jeans
  • Marker (optional)

Instructions for making skinny jeans

First grab your jeans, turn them inside out and put them on. Take your pins, pin your jeans knee down and pin close to your legs so they will be able to fit as tight as you want them. If there is any space around the thigh area you can also pin there as well. If you don't have pins then you can use a marker and draw lines on both legs.

After you are done with that, take the jeans off and sew where you have placed the pins. You also need to make sure that you're matching up your stitches with the stitches that are already on the jeans. This is important because it will make sure that when you're finished your jeans won't have odd folds. You can also cut off any unnecessary fabric from the flare.

Turn your jeans the right way round and hey presto! You're finished. You can always add a little something to jazz your skinny jeans up by customising them zips, badges, bondage straps, rips and even braces. Or by tying a weird kind of tufty tail on the back. One that would be impossible to describe. One that doesn't look like it could belong to any animal you've ever seen. You know. That kind of tail.

She literally makes those jeans shine...

HendrixsaHendrixsa is an outspoken, feisty and weird character. She doesn't see the point of 'normal' and is way too into politics, DIY, writing, guitars, music, punk, comics and all things fun. Plus has a strange addiction to liquorice. Someday she will be a freegan journalist who parties too much.
