YOU ARE VIEWING: Social - boozing, schmoozing, clubbing and dining out
- Limit yourself to takeaways or meals out to once a fortnight (unless someone else wants to treat you!).
- Turn up at friends' homes around mealtime to be sure of at least a few scraps.
- Make use of 2 for 1 special offers in restaurants. Go halves with a friend or offer to pay outright (without letting her know about the 2 for 1 deal) thus giving the impression that you're a very generous and giving person. If you live in Greater London try www.london-eating.co.uk/matchpoint.
- Never underestimate happy hour. But never get too drunk to know when happy hour has ended and unhappiness begins!
- Give up going to expensive clubs and get in on the squat party/free rave circuit - the people are all much nicer and the music's far better. Find out what's on at www.guilfin.org, www.urban75.org or www.partyvibe.com/freeparties.
- Better still save time and money on travel and host a house party! You provide the groovy music, the sparkling entertainment and a few 'buy 1 get 1 free' bags of snacks, and everyone else brings a bottle.
