YOU ARE VIEWING: Utilities (bills etc.)

To use any of the comparative price websites mentioned, you first have to know who your energy supplier is and how much you already pay over a year, so have 12 months worth of service bills at hand before you go online to work it out.

  • Get a better deal on your gas and electricity at www.ukpower.co.uk or www.uswitch.com (this also covers water bills) or www.switchwithwhich.co.uk.
  • Don't assume that because you've saved some money by switching your gas and electricity provider it's the end of the story. You still need to use energy saving light bulbs, turn the lights off when you're not in the room and use the timer and thermostat on the heating efficiently. Apparently you can save a small fortune just turning your central heating down by 1 degree.
