How to Show Yourself Some Love
Because we all need a reminder now and then. Showing yourself some love may be obvious stuff, but it’s a hard thing to do.
Look how you want to look. Not happy with your hair? Change it. Not happy with your style? Change it. Dye or style your hair, change your look, paint your nails. Don’t worry about what other people will think, do what will make you happy with yourself. (I dyed my hair brown for a job, and eventually got really depressed, missing my fun colors, so I dyed it back to a lovely bright color and I’m so in love with it again!)
Look out for yourself when it comes to relationships. Not just romantic ones, friendships too. Don’t stick around for someone who isn’t there for you, uses you, or treats you badly. There are so many people out there who would love to be your friend/partner. You deserve someone who treats you well!
Treat other people the way you would like to be treated. I know, it’s the stereotypical ‘Golden Rule’, but this really does have a positive impact on your life. Doing nice things for others makes you feel much better about yourself.
If you are feeling down, do something you want to do. Watch a favourite show, play some great music, do a DIY face mask, eat something you like! Pick yourself up and dust yourself off by doing something comforting.
Know what you want and go after it. I know everyone says it, but if you want something enough, and are willing to put in the effort, you can make it happen. (Within reason, I’m not going to tell you that you can jump from the Earth to the moon or turn into a sea turtle). Want to go to school? Go to school. Want to start a band or become an artist? Go for it. Don’t let anything (including laziness, I am guilty of that one) stand in your way.
Look in the mirror and acknowledge and accept what you see. No matter what anyone else says or thinks about you, what you think about yourself is what matters. You can live your life without those people, but you can’t live without yourself. You are the most important, and you are beautiful.
