Who the hell is Jenny Lewis?
Jenny Lewis been in a film with Angelia Jolie, she's dated Jake Gyllenhaal, she's sung with Ben Gibbard and her band opened for Coldplay. She's pretty much stolen the life I wanted to lead, except she looks better doing it.
Jenny formed the LA based band Rilo Kiley in 1998 along with Pierre De Reeder, Blake Sennett and Dave Rock (later replaced by Jason Boesel.) 3 years later, their first album (which they had independently recorded), Take Offs and Landings, was picked up by Seattle label Barsuk Records. In 2002, they released The Execution of All Things (Saddle Creek Records) and followed it in 2004 with More Adventurous. More Adventurous was the album that cemented Rilo Kiley firmly in the minds of the musical powers that be, and resulted in them finding widespread success on the indie scene. Relentless touring, coupled with slobbering reviews from Pitchfork Media and Rolling Stone et al made the schmucks at Warner Bros agree to distribute the album, which was released on the bands very own label, Brute/Beaute Records.

In between all her Rilo Kiley excitement, Jenny Lewis still managed to record with Ben Gibbard (of Death Cab for Cutie fame) and Jimmy Tamborello for the massive indie success-story band, The Postal Service. She contributed to several of the songs on Give Up and toured with them in 2003. She also worked with Cursive on their 2004 album The Ugly Organ.
In 2004, Conor Oberst (of Bright Eyes) invited Jenny to do her first solo record for his label Team Love, and in 2006 Rabbit Fur Coat was released. For this album, Jenny teamed up with the Watson twins and critics and fans alike are going ape shit for it. Get this - she's even a character in EmoGame (www.emogame.com). You can't ask for much more than that.
