Need mother's permission to get my septum pierced...

Just a while ago I asked my mother if I could get my septum pierced, and she said yes. I guess that at the time she didn't know what it was... just recently I talked to her about it and she said no, because it's punky and unnattractive, and because septum piercings resemble 'hog rings'. She asked me if I wanted to be associated with pigs, and I told her that if anyone associated something with a pig or anything of that sort, they wouldn't want to do that. But I don't know how to talk to her about it in a way that she'd accept that. I'd really like to get it pierced, but to do so in a way that doesn't have my mother filing me as some ignorant punk going through a phase.

You don't say how old you are but I am presuming you aren't old enough to have piercings without your mum's permission - and that's why you asked your mum if you could have your septum pierced.
I'm going to take it you're between 13-16 years old, in which case I would ask yourself why you do want it done. Is it a trend? Is it something you have wanted for a long time? Do your friends have the same piercing, or want their septum pierced?
It's clear your mother has a certain view about people and certain types of piercings and I can see why she would have doubts. Just talk to your mum in a calm manner, and aim not get too frustrated about the matter.
Try to show your mum your views on the situation and whether there is any compromise that could be arranged. She did, after all, agree initially to a piercing - it was just placement of a septum piercing she disagreed to. There may be another piercing that would make you happy and your mother reassured. This is something for the two of you to talk over together. If I was in your position I would make sure it was something I absolutely wanted to do and not a temporary desire, as your mum is thinking.
Why not have a fake piercing there for a while and see how it feels and whether you like it or not? If your mum is still adamant against you getting your septem pierced then the only solution is to wait until you are old enough. If you still want it done when you are legally of age and can have it done without anyone's permission, I would tell your mum this as well... just so it is not a shock if it ever comes to it!
