Nursing the Nation... Molly Case Video

Spoken word artist and student nurse Molly Case recited her poem about the plight of nurses in front of the RCH Congress 2013. Soul stirring stuff, and she rightly received a standing ovation. WE NEED MORE NURSES.

Watch the video…

Britain’s NHS has had some shockingly bad press recently. Molly’s poem captures how many hardworking, generous spirited and exhausted nurses and workers there are in the NHS and how they feel about their appalling treatment at the hands of the government and media (such as the attempt to construct a moral panic about welfare from the Philpott case).

We hate that the current government is using the media to villify the NHS in order to reduce public backlash when it’s destroyed piece by piece.

We love that Congress changed their schedule to allow Molly Case to speak her mind – poetry and creativity can make a huge impact, and it was courageous of the RCN to recognise that and include Molly in their schedule.

STOP VILLIFYING THE GOOD WORK THAT NURSES DO. YOU SHOULD BE PUTTING THEM ON PEDESTALS.

YOU SHOULD BE GIVING THEM A VOICE.

YOU SHOULD BE TRAINING MORE OF THEM AND GIVING THEM MORE MONEY AND GIVING THEM TIME TO DO THEIR JOB.

NURSES KNOW WHAT THEY’RE DOING. IF YOU’RE A POLITICIAN USING NURSES AS A SCAPEGOAT…

YOU DON’T.
