Gravity is for People Who Don’t Hold Hands
Bulldog power, satin frosting, guarded
by the deep lake, watercolour and broad-
shouldered, people say
“butch”, but that’s not
a person, there’s more hiding
beneath the denim and distance, it just
needs someone who doesn’t anchor
on words, but body
weight pressure and eyes
that ask for feeling, need it
like salt on a tongue (but
whose?), there’s a simplicity or baseness
to light that disregards
physics, may we too float
together and forget
what the textbooks say?
We could be something new.
