A little about Mookychick…

Mookychick is a passion project founded in 2005 which has continued to evolve ever since. This alternative feminist site and community is more than the sum of its parts, thanks to its incredible community and the many hundreds of contributors who have made it what it is today.

Our patron saints include but are not limited to Kate Bush, Frida Kahlo, Marie Laveau, Greta Thunberg, Ada Lovelace, Ursula K. Le Guin, Gina Torres, Helena Bonham Carter, Jeanne d’Arc, Marie Curie, Leonora Carrington, Doctor Who and St. Hildegard of Bingen. Mookychick is like water – babbling, tranquil, charged, unquiet, delicate, ferocious, restorative and deep.

If you join our team as a Social Media Manager, we will aim to make it a rewarding experience by raising your own visibility in the community, giving you space to rest and bloom. Who is a Mookychick Social Media Manager?

We are seeking a passionate Social Media Manager to join our eclectic creative collective on a permanent basis.

We are looking for a driven, energetic and enthusiastic individual, with excellent communication skills and a love for all things social.

You will be helping to promote multiple campaigns and content across a variety of subjects including feminism, subculture lifestyle, occult & spirituality, creative writing, mental health and more. We have so many great contributors and content and we need you to help us reach a wider audience.

This is a great time to join our expanding team! As the Social Media Manager, you’ll work closely with editors, content creators and the Mookychick community to deliver the best possible social experience for our readers and contributors.

• Volunteer position
• Flexible hours
• Remote working (e.g. from home)
• Create multiple campaigns across social channels: Twitter, Instagram & Facebook (we like using Hootsuite to schedule posts, but we’re flexible)
• Work closely with team members to develop unique content
• Have an understanding of social media strategy and how to leverage it to bring amazing Mookychick content to our readers.
• Support editors, writers and readers in the Mookychick community
• Receive space for your skills, passions and ambitions to flourish
• Receive whatever training and support you need from our friendly editorial team. We are very much here for you, and no question or idea is too large or small.

What We’re Looking For:

• Previous social media experience is preferred. (Whether this is personal experience managing social media or in a professional setting).
• Engage with all queries/comments made through social media platforms in a way that reflects the voice and values of Mookychick
• Previous WordPress CMS experience is preferred.
• Photo and image editing skills would be an advantage.
• An online social presence is mandatory, particularly on Twitter.
• An understanding of how different social platforms function such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
• Know a thing or two about using social media management software like Hootsuite.
• Diverse applications are warmly welcomed.
