Using Crystal Meditation to Feel Clean and Calm
Crystal meditation exercise to aid insight and cleanse the mind of stressful everyday problems.
Meditation is one of the most beneficial activities you could participate in because it positively affects you physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. It relieves us of stress, cleanses the mind of stressful everyday problems, helps us gain insight and helps us reach serenity.
Clearing the mind can be very difficult for some people, which is understandable with all the issues we have to deal with on a daily basis. Reaching a calm place can seem impossible at times, myself included, which is why I use crystals to attain a meditative state.
There are a number of ways that you can go about to meditate with crystals, and while I use a very simple rudimentary altar, all of them have worked for me. All you really need to do this is a calm quiet place where you can relax and spend time with the crystals you identify with.
Crystal Meditation Methods
Method 1. Meditation altar
Wow. How’s that for laying out your crystals?
A meditation alter is simply a surface where you keep the items to help you during meditation. You will want the height to be around eye level when you are resting in your meditation position. Keep it uncluttered. Rest the crystals that you connect to or need help from on the altar. If you want to enhance the powers of your crystal or even add new properties to it, I would suggest using this handy crystal glossary I found which covers what shapes can strengthen your crystals.
If you would like to add anything to your altar, consider incense or even burning sage when the time is right. I avoid candles because I find the flickering can be distracting but if it relaxes you, go ahead. The reason you will want the altar at eye level is it will be the focal point during your meditation.
Method 2. Hold your crystal
Meditating in lotus position.
Assume a position that is most comfortable for you. It doesn’t have to be in the traditional lotus position – you can just sit on a sofa if that is the place and position where you feel most at peace. Choose a crystal you want to work with. If you’re not sure what you are looking for in terms of what you and your body need, simply go through your crystals and hold each one until you feel a connecting vibration from the crystal and it feels ‘right’. This is the crystal you need.
Method 3. Lie down and align with your chakras
Before you begin this activity, I would advise using smooth, flat crystals. Having sharp or slippery crystals jabbing or rolling off you can be distracting during your meditation experience.
Begin by lying on a flat but comfortable surface. I like to use a yoga mat but whatever works for you is fine. Lie down and begin placing the appropriate stones over your chakras….
Start by placing the appropriate stone over the root chakra located at your nether regions. This will ground you to the earth.
Next place your crystal over your sacral chakra located over your tummy.
Then add a crystal at your solar plexus chakra over your upper abdomen.
Then position the 5th crystal over your heart chakra.
Next put a crystal over your throat chakra, followed by one at your third eye (between and above your eyebrows), and finally one at your crown chakra.
Which crystals for which chakras?
If you are unsure about which crystals to use for your chakras, it is most commonly as follows:
- The Root: Obsidian helps with self-control and resilience.
- The Sacral: Carnelian gives energy and protects you from negative energies.
- Solar Plexus: Yellow jasper gives strength, courage, and protection. It also helps balance your energy.
- The Heart: Rose quartz or jade. Rose quartz and jade can be used in the opening of the 4th chakra but where rose quartz dissolves emotional wounds and fears, opens the heart, and is jade is an emotional balancer that removes negative thoughts and energies and brings balance and peace.
- The Throat: Blue turquoise promotes self-realization, calmness.
- The Third Eye: Selenite enhances the clarity of the mind. It sooths the nerves and makes you more aware of your surroundings in a warm fuzzy way.
- The Crown: Amethyst is my favorite stone to use. It calms the soul and brings patience, peace, and happiness.
The Meditation…
Whichever method you decided to use, they are all good and have the same approach to reaching peace of body and mind.
To meditate with your crystal, relax and breathe deeply. Will your body to relax, starting at the end of your body, from the toes up. Progressively you will start to feel warm energy flowing through you as you relax and your chakras open and are cleansed of the earthly matters clogging them. The last place to relax is your mind; let your thoughts fall away unnoticed. Be empty and ready to receive healing energies from your crystals and the universe.
As Lao Tzu once said, the way to do is to be. Hopefully this will help you on your quest to inner peace!
