4 Ways to Treat Yourself Like a Goddess. For Real.
As a theistic Satanist, I believe in Satan. Ultimately, however, I regard myself as a goddess. What’s to stop you from doing the same, if you don’t already? Here are four ways I embrace myself as a goddess that might benefit you. These tips are intended to be helpful for those who are curious about Satanism… and those who aren’t, for there is no obligation to take a specific path to treat yourself well in matters of life and spirit.
During the course of my path in theistic Satanism, I’ve learned a lot about being a goddess; I’ve gained skill when it comes to exercising my personal power. Here are 4 Satanic self-care tips to help you treat yourself like a goddess too:
1. Indulge in pleasure without guilt.
Spend time doing whatever it is you enjoy. Everybody’s pleasure looks different. It’s important to know what makes you happy and do it as frequently as you can. Indulging in pleasure can make you happier. Happiness makes life worth living.
Experiencing pleasure is therapeutic and makes life better. Not all pleasures are created equal, because some things that bring you pleasure can harm you – so make it a point to satisfy your desires and be responsible while doing so.
Society condemns those of us who openly seek pleasure as a pursuit in life. As my own goddess, I refuse to feel guilt for seeking pleasure. I openly value pleasure and regard it as on of the best things to do with my life. Many religions and systems instill guilt as a control mechanism. Cast off the chains of shame and give pleasure a treasured place in your life.
2. Exercise your personal power.
You have more potential than you realize. Use your personal power to make a difference in your life.
Use magick to manifest your desires and achieve your goals. Attune to your power by working with energy or elements.
Invest your energy in what/who you think deserves it the most. You can use your energy to help someone else if you think that person deserves your help.
If someone harms you, you have every right to fight back. Stand up for yourself. I personally believe you can do this in person or with curse magick. When someone trespasses your personal boundaries, you have the right to defend yourself.
Acceptance is not always the answer. It’s alright to be angry, and to be against something or someone. There are certain things you should never accept. Embrace your enemies: having them means you stand for something.
3. Worship yourself.
Many Satanists believe every individual is a goddess of their own life. Own up to being your own goddess and give yourself the reverence you deserve.
When you accomplish something, don’t chalk it down to good luck or forces beyond your control. It’s your accomplishment because you did something to cause it, even if it was a good luck spell. Magick makes it more possible, but in the end, your victories are yours to claim.
Compliment yourself on your strengths, but be mindful of your weaknesses. Self-awareness is an important part of worshipping yourself. It makes the difference between a meaningful experience and delusional thinking.
(Then again, if you’re like me, a delusional experience might be spiritual in nature.)
4. Believe in yourself.
You have the power to achieve your highest potential. Believe in your power as the goddess of your own life.
Acknowledge your capabilities and take pride in your individuality. Use your knowledge and skills to make a difference that’s meaningful to you. It might be through art, poetry, photography, or something else creative. There are many paths to fulfillment. It’s up to you to find what fulfills you the most.
Always work on strengthening your self-esteem and confidence. Self-esteem and confidence not only make you glow; they bring out the best in you. You’ll be in a better mood and more grateful to be yourself.
Your belief in yourself – or lack thereof – can make or break you.
Choose to believe in yourself.
